Air Force vs SWAT Uniforms

One of the easiest ways to identify different tactical units and forces is by their uniforms. The Air Force can often be seen in the regular army camouflage uniform while the SWAT team takes the all-black uniform approach.

Here’s what you need to know about their uniforms:

  • Air Force Uniform

The Air Force prioritizes lightweight in their uniforms. This is why they are optionally seen with heavy duty ballistic shields, plate carriers and hard plate armors. While they are also equipped to be protected from ballistic threats with various tactical gears, they do so with a mind to remain light as they fly.

Members of the Air Force units can be found in a camouflage uniform comprising different tactical gears such as tactical boots, tactical pants, top, a head gear, and tactical eyewear for protection.

  • SWAT

SWAT teams encounter some of the most varied field conditions and are called upon to do a wide array of tasks. Therefore their uniforms need to be as versatile as their tasks. To be ready for anything, SWAT officers are given uniforms that provide the right protection and assure the best on-field performance.

A great SWAT uniform ought to be fire retardant, possess great breathability, very durability, and have stain- and tear-resistance. It must also provide great comfort for the officer who would still have to carry tactical gears and weapons.

Over the years, there has been a trend of SWAT officers switching from their natural all-black or blue uniforms to green color. While green is a great color, it also gives off a form of militarization for this police unit. However, green is great, it blends well in most environments and is difficult to see in the dark. This provides added protection and increased success rate for officers.
